Class Descriptions
In 2011-2012 our theme will be The Character: Who Am I?. After studying about story, the heart of the play or performance piece, in the previous year OYPTS students will study the who within the story. As students delve into character development they will discover aspects of the self, helping to give them confidence. Guest teachers will hold workshop intensives with age and experience determining to what level or depth the study will be.
For younger and older students alike – there will be animal character workshops to be developed into possible performance pieces
Stories and plays developed as inspired by well known characters
Character development experts will visit to offer specialized workshops
Character-driven stories and plays such as Anne Shirley’s well-known character from Anne of Green Gables, possibly characters from FAME-the musical, so many fairytale characters and more!
For younger students: Ludwig Bemelman’s Madeleine, Margret and H.A. Rey’s Curious George, A.A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh and more!
OYP Theatre School offers a full curriculum of introductory and specialized acting and theatre classes, for students from pre-school to adult. Most classes are taught over THREE TERMS. The Winter Play Family Class and the VLP class are one term.
