Ages 16-25
An audition-entry theatre workshop where students work with a professional director to create a high-quality theatrical production. Commitment and teamwork are a must as students will be expected to stretch their acting abilities and onstage skills. Topics covered will include vocal technique, characterization, focus, and building onstage chemistry with other actors. We will be rehearsing and performing a play within a very tight schedule–students should be prepared to attend 2-3 rehearsals/week. Our play will be performed indoors at the Richcraft as well as outdoors, so this is a fantastic opportunity to experience what it is like to tour a production and perform in varied venues.

Taught by Richard Gélinas, an Ottawa actor, director, and creator, whose work has been nominated for awards from the Montreal English Critics Circle and the Rideau Awards, this eight week workshop will give you tools and techniques to build a character,both from a play and instantaneously! You’ll learn:
- sources of character – text, situation, YOU!
- expressions of character – body, voice
- character development – changes of character, through circumstances or interactions with others
- methods for playing multiple characters in one play or scene
